Burnley FC, who currently sit 11th in the Premier League, will be implementing The Coaching Manual’s new player development application into the club’s Academy.
Foundation Phase players, aged 5-11, will be tasked to undergo and manage their own TopTekkers challenges away from the training pitch. The club places an emphasis on ‘loving the ball’ with its youngest age groups, and the introduction of TopTekkers will encourage players to do just that.
Burnley's Academy Manager, Jon Pepper, said: “TopTekkers will be used as an additional tool to help aid technical development by encouraging young players to take ownership of their own learning and development in ball mastery and individual technique.”
“We are very much looking forward to working alongside TopTekkers.”
The ambitious Burnley Academy, which has produced the likes of Richard Caplow and Jay Rodriguez, is based at the state-of-the-art Barnfield Training Centre. The impressive facility is home to six stunning pitches, incuding a heated pitch and an indoor pitch.
TopTekkers founder, Chris Barton, said of the partnership:
"Adding the Burnley FC Academy to the growing number of clubs utilising TopTekkers for their young players makes us extremely proud.”
“We have enjoyed a great working relationship with the club in recent years and they have been innovators off the field throughout. Rolling out TopTekkers continues that trend and ensures that players in their Academy are given the right tools to use away from the club to hone their skills and put in the extra work needed to improve their game.”
“This partnership is further evidence that TopTekkers is the perfect tool to help players in their own personal development. It doesn't matter whether you play for a Premier League Academy or in your local grassroots team, to get better at the game you need to practice the fundamentals. We can't wait to get started with this fantastic club."
